The Dawoodi Bohras of Kolhapur upgrade medical facilities of Chhatrapati Pramila Raje General Hospital

Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin contributes to Kolhapur Hospital

Chhatrapati Pramila Raje General Hospital is pleased to announce a significant contribution from the Dawoodi Bohra community in Kolhapur that will enhance the medical facilities and services provided to the local community.

Hasan Mushrif Saheb, Hon’ble Minister of Medical Education, Government of Maharashtra, Aliasgar Channiwala, the President of the Dawoodi Bohra community in Kolhapur, and other distinguished guests and members of the Dawoodi Bohra community were present at the opening ceremony.

Dr Satyawan More, Dean of College & Chhatrapati Pramila Raje Hospital, said, “As a leading government hospital with a capacity of around 665 beds, we provide healthcare to the less privileged from Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, and patients from the Maharashtra-Karnataka boundary.”

“The generous donation from the Dawoodi Bohra leader Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, including essential medical equipment such as microscopes, suction machines, sound systems, and an upgraded RO water system, will significantly boost the hospital's ability to provide efficient care to underprivileged patients,” Dr Satyawan More added.

Shakir Patwa, the Secretary of the Dawoodi Bohra community in Kolhapur, shared, "During His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin's recent visit to Kolhapur, he graciously accepted the hospital's request to enhance its medical infrastructure. This significant contribution is a testament to Syedna's and the Dawoodi Bohra community’s ongoing commitment to improving the health and well-being of the people."

He further explained, "This donation is a part of the Dawoodi Bohra's global philanthropic initiative, ‘Project Rise’. The project is dedicated to fostering a brighter and healthier future for all sections of society, and this contribution is a significant step towards that goal."

The Dawoodi Bohras have been a part of Kolhapur for around 150 years, with a current population of over 250 community members. The community is primarily involved in businesses such as hardware, manufacturing, and medium-scale industries, and also includes professionals in the fields of medicine and law.
