Shahzada Husain Burhanuddin greets His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan V in Mumbai.

On behalf of His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, his son Shahzada Husain Burhanuddin met with His Highness Prince Rahim al-Hussaini Aga Khan V in Mumbai during the latter’s recent visit to India.

The exchange reflected the longstanding warmth and mutual respect between the Dawoodi Bohra and Ismaili communities, with discussions focusing on their respective efforts to serve society, particularly through education, healthcare and social welfare.

The meeting, held during Prince Rahim Aga Khan V’s first visit to Mumbai as the Aga Khan, reflected a relationship spanning generations between both leaderships. The 51st Dai of the Dawoodi Bohras, Syedna Taher Saifuddin and his successor, Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin, both maintained warm relations with the late Prince Karim Aga Khan IV and hosted him at their residence in Mumbai. During Syedna Taher Saifuddin’s first visit to East Africa in 1963, the Aga Khan instructed the Ismaili community in Mombasa to accord him a warm welcome.

This mutual respect extends to a mutual belief in service by the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) and Project Rise. Both institutions work in areas that touch everyday life, including healthcare, education, food, water and the environment.

The meeting between Prince Rahim Aga Khan V and Shahzada Husain Burhanuddin continues this longstanding relationship of friendship, mutual respect and service to society.
