The 53rd leader of the worldwide Dawoodi Bohra community, His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, delivered a sermon at Saifee Masjid in the Duparc neighbourhood in Sainte-Marie on May 29, 2025. While addressing community members, Syedna Saifuddin delivered a message of love and harmony.
Drawing a parallel with the island’s tradition of sugarcane farming, Syedna guided the community to cultivate cordial and harmonious relationships with all members of society, mirroring the sweetness of sugarcane.
He went on to highlight Réunion’s breathtaking natural beauty, its majestic waterfalls and awe-inspiring volcanoes. Appreciating these natural wonders, Syedna Saifuddin emphasised the importance of preserving and cherishing both cultural heritage and the environment.

He also urged the younger generation to adopt a healthy lifestyle for their physical and mental well-being and be wary of harmful habits.
Syedna Saifuddin arrived in Réunion on 27th May 2025. He was warmly received by senior members of the Dawoodi Bohra community on the island. This is Syedna’s second visit to Réunion after acceding to the leadership of the community in 2014.
Reflecting on the arrangements made by the community, Huzaifa Saifee, event coordinator for the Dawoodi Bohra community in Réunion, expressed his heartfelt sentiments, stating, “We feel incredibly fortunate to welcome Syedna and his family to the country after a span of 11 years.”
On May 31, His Holiness met the Prefect of Réunion, His excellency Mr Patrice Latron at the Governor’s House.
During the meeting, the Prefect commended the Bohra community’s contribution to maintaining inter-community harmony on the island. His Holiness thanked the Prefect for his hospitality and shared his appreciation of the warmth and graciousness of the people of the island.

Syedna Saifuddin's visit to Réunion, like other countries where the Dawoodi Bohras reside, reflects his genuine concern for the well-being of every community member. These journeys allow him to connect with individuals and offer guidance, encouraging them to be loyal and law-abiding citizens. He counsels them to actively contribute to the nation’s socio-economic growth by embracing ethical trade practices and safeguarding the country’s natural resources.
Over 1,250 community members reside across Réunion, with a majority engaged in hardware, trading, and construction businesses, contributing meaningfully to the island’s growth and economy.
