Members of the Dawoodi Bohra community marked the 78th Independence Day of India with a flag hoisting ceremony at their respective community centres where men, women and children came together in a display of patriotic fervour.
Continuing their commitment to the environment and in alignment to the theme for this year’s Independence Day, ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047', community members have embraced a tree-planting initiative, symbolising their dedication to nurturing the nation’s future alongside its rich heritage. This initiative is executed by the community’s Project Rise and Burhani Foundation organisations.
As part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign initiated by the Government of India under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Dawoodi Bohra members across the nation hoisted the national flag at local community centres, schools, hospitals, commercial establishments and homes in celebration of the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, an organiser said, “Our members expressed their loyalty, affection and patriotism by participating in flag-hoisting ceremonies, cultural programmes, and undertaking social welfare activities, including tree planting efforts, to support fellow citizens and the environment.”
He added, “Our leader His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin always counsels us to be patriotic and law-abiding citizens contributing towards the welfare of all members of society. The celebration of India’s 78th year of Independence, alongside our commitment to planting trees, is a manifestation of these patriotic values and teachings.”
