As part of the global community initiative to rid water bodies of plastic pollution known as 'Turning the Tide', community members in Singapore collaborated with the National Parks Board of Singapore to organise a beach cleaning event on Sunday 29th December 2019. The event took place at the East Coast Park Area B, with an aim to raise awareness about the global problem of marine pollution and generate a sense of responsibility towards the environment.
More than 60 community members participated in the activity braving high temperatures to cover a 1.15 kilometer stretch of beach. 22 kilogrammes of both recyclable and non-recyclable waste was collected.
The activity ended with light snacks, cheerful bonding and a collective resolve to sustain such efforts as part of the community’s global effort to better the environment.
