Bohras of Sharjah Mark World Food Day by Distributing 200 meals

Gulf Today

Thousands of Dawoodi Bohras from all parts of the world have come out on World Food Day to engage in various activities to fight for a world with Zero Hunger and honour our Food Heroes.

This year’s commemoration comes at a time that is especially difficult due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Dawoodi Bohras of Sharjah mobilised efforts to distribute 200 meals to the less fortunate in collaboration with the Indian Association in Sharjah to mark World Food Day.

All the activities were undertaken under the banner of Project Rise which is the global philanthropic arm of the Dawoodi Bohra community.

In February, Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS, the leader of the worldwide Dawoodi Bohra community inaugurated the newly expanded Masjid Al-Fatimeen al-Bohra in Al-Manakh, Sharjah.

Syedna especially expressed his gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and the Ruler of Sharjah, and thanked the Government of Sharjah for their continued support to the community and its members.

Mustafa Taher, PR Coordinator of the Bohra community in Sharjah, said: ‘The expansion of the masjid represents the community’s commitment and devotion to the growth and development of Sharjah.’

‘It is our community’s only masjid in Sharjah and the fifth in the UAE.’ added Dr Taher.
