"Be like gold; pure and untarnished by negativity": Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin during his sermon in Ratlam

During his sermon at Saifee Masjid at Chandni Chowk, the leader of the worldwide Dawoodi Bohra community, His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, highlighted five prominent aspects that make Ratlam famous. These aspects, known as the five 'S's, are sonu (gold), sev (a savoury snack popular in the region), station, salt and saree. Each of these five elements represents the diverse and vibrant aspects of Ratlam, showcasing the city's unique identity and cultural significance.

By referencing sonu (gold), Syedna urged community members to embody the virtues of gold by remaining pure and untarnished by negativity, while also holding themselves to high moral standards.

Addressing thousands of community members in Ratlam, including those who had come from neighbouring towns and villages for the sermon, Syedna Saifuddin also emphasised the importance and benefits of planting trees.

He also counselled community members to embrace virtuous characteristics and especially, to abstain from wrongdoings and to continue serving humanity.

Syedna arrived in Ratlam from Mumbai on 8th June where he was received by senior members from the Dawoodi Bohra community. This is Syedna’s first visit to Ratlam after acceding to the leadership of the community in 2014.

The Dawoodi Bohra community in Ratlam is a vibrant and active community dedicated to embracing modernity while staying true to its traditions. Approximately 6000 Dawoodi Bohras call the city their home, with the majority residing in Chandni Chowk, Lakkad Pitha, Sagod Road, Kasara Bazar and Lokendra Bhawan areas. A significant proportion of the community members in the city are entrepreneurs and businessmen involved in various sectors such as hardware and construction materials, groceries, trading, and manufacturing.
