His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin arrived at Marcel Henry Airport, Mayotte on the 13th of June. He was accorded a warm welcome at the airport by the Mayor of Pamandzi, Madi Madi Souf, government authorities and community members.

The welcome ceremony included speeches by the government officials, who thanked His Holiness for visiting Mayotte. His Holiness addressed the assembly conveying the message of harmony and peaceful coexistence. In a later discourse, His Holiness lauded community members for nurturing cordial relations with their fellow citizens and guided them to continue their efforts. He also praised the natural beauty of Mayotte which is located between mountains on one side and the ocean on the other.

During the four day visit, His Holiness interacted with community members, looked into their socio-economic affairs and advised them to make active contributions to the growth and development of the island.

This is the second time His Holiness has traveled to Mayotte. His first visit was nearly twenty years ago when he had accompanied his father, the late Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin.
Mayotte has been home to the Dawoodi Bohra community for the past two centuries with settlers arriving at its shores as early as the 1860s. The early settlers came from India and had initially planned to voyage to East Africa, however a cyclone cast their dhows off course sending them instead to the shores of Mayotte. Mayotte is home to 75 Dawoodi Bohra families with a total strength of nearly 200 members.
