As part of Aligarh Muslim University’s centenary celebrations, His Holiness Dr Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, who is serving his second term as Chancellor of AMU, inaugurated the newly constructed centenary gate via an online ceremony on the 17th of October, 2020.

In his address to the entire AMU family, including Vice Chancellor Professor Tariq Mansoor and Pro Chancellor Nawab Ibn Sayyid Khan, Syedna stated: ‘I am thankful to Allah that after a long time I have this opportunity to meet with you. With immense happiness, I would like to extend my congratulations to you all on the occasion of this one of a kind institute completing a hundred years as a university.

In these 100 years, this university has played a significant role in the progress of education, the nation and society at large. When I say university, I do not merely mean the physical structures made of brick and stone, rather, I mean those individuals who have rendered service to this university in their respective capacities as students, professors and administrators and continue doing so.

By the grace of Allah – to commemorate the completion of a hundred years and the commencement of another hundred – we have gathered today for the inauguration of this centenary gate from different places through the aid of technology.

We pray that may Allah open one door after another for the progress of all those associated with this university and may He maintain peace and harmony for us all.’
