On 25 September 2020, Ladies of London held their 3rd Annual Macmillan Afternoon Chai fundraiser for Cancer Support as a Drive-Thru .

Macmillan Cancer Research is a long-standing charity in the UK that provides support and care to cancer patients and survivors, whilst contributing greatly to cancer research and treatments through innovative research.

Annually, Macmillan holds a ‘coffee morning’ in which organisations such as schools, churches, and offices raise money for cancer research by selling baked goods and donating the proceeds. Due to the pandemic, a standard coffee morning could not take place.

In accordance with the guidance given by Macmillan, Ladies of London successfully hosted a socially distanced and Covid-19 compliant drive-thru event. Members of the community pre-ordered their baked goods, and bakers/donors safely packaged the goods they planned to donate being extra cautious about hygiene throughout. Gloves and masks were worn in all food and packaging processes.

The success of the event was due to the generosity of those who supported the worthy cause. Ladies of London raised over £2,000 and hope to raise even more next year.
