In an effort to give back to the broader community during the festive season, Dawoodi Bohras in Calgary organised a dinner for the less fortunate at The Mustard Seeds shelter home.
This was the 3rd consecutive Christmas dinner organised by community members where more than 375 people were served. The meals were hand cooked and personally served to the guests. The dinner consisted of a green chicken curry and daal makhani, coupled with naan bread, mixed berry mousse and a coleslaw salad with cranberries.
Inspired by the community’s ethos of philanthropy and the emphasis placed by Islam on feeding the hungry, community members in Calgary have resolved to organise such dinners on a regular basis.
