Throughout the holy month of Ramadan, community members in Dar es Salaam engaged in various charitable activities. These were inspired by the spirit of Ramadan which urges Muslims to aid and assist their fellow man in every possible way.
Donations of foodstuffs and sanitation products were made to the residents of Jangwani area in Dar es Salaam, which was recently devastated by floods that left hundreds without shelter. Clothes and food items were also donated to the children of Mbagala orphanage.
The holy month lays great emphasis on feeding the hungry, especially those who undertake the Ramadan fast. As a result, donations of wheat and other grains were made to the Bakwata Muslim organisation so that those fasting during the holy month would be provided with sustenance when it came time to break the fast each day.
Community members also met with the Foreign Minister and other dignitaries in an attempt to foster strong and lasting bonds of cooperation between the community and various government agencies.
