The Dawoodi Bohra community in New York and New Jersey hosted a special ‘Meet and Greet’ event with Indian dignitaries on Tuesday, 30th October, at the home of a community member on Long Island in New York.
Sandeep Chakravorty, Consul General of India in New York and Shatrughna Sinha, Deputy Consul General of India in New York, attended the event and met with members of the Dawoodi Bohra community.
Held in appreciation of the services provided by the Indian government to the Dawoodi Bohra community over the years, the event was an opportunity to learn more about the community, its culture, and the teachings of its religious and spiritual leader, His Holiness, Dr. Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS.
“The Dawoodi Bohra community is known for its patriotism, community service, and unique traditions, which add to the diversity and richness of the Indian community, both in India and around the world,” said Sandeep Chakravorty, Consul General of India in New York.
“In accordance with the teachings of our spiritual leader, the Dawoodi Bohras strongly believe in being patriotic to the country we reside in. In the United States, we are Americans first but we are proud and grateful for our rich history in India. The community has long flourished there due to the tolerant and inclusive fabric of the country,” said Mr Huzefa Nomani, the President of Anjuman-e-Badri, New York, the non-profit organisation administering and managing the affairs of the Dawoodi Bohra Community in New York and Connecticut.
