Do not participate in a competition in order to put someone down, compete with yourself for your own betterment, said Dr Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin on the second day of Ashara Mubaraka on Thursday.
The 53rd spiritual leader of the Dawoodi Bohra community, Syedna, who will conduct sermons on different topics on each day of Ashara Mubaraka, focused on healthy competition on the second day. He said, “One must always compete with oneself for his betterment and not with others. One should also make sure that while they are trying to compete with themselves, they do not put others down in anyway.”
Syedna urged the community members to walk on the right path, think good, and not get angry besides being thankful for all the blessings of God. As Syedna, escorted by the devout holding flags bearing the name of Imam Hussain, entered the Saifee Nagar mosque at 10:20, the community members at the main mosque got equally overwhelmed on the second day. Syedna gave a sermon from 11am to 2pm.
When Syedna reminded the devotees about Imam Husains’ martyrdom and how he along with his beloved were made to walk barefoot on hot sand with their feet tied with shackles, the devotees cried their hearts out.
Speaking with TOI, Shabbir Sethijiwala, who had his chance to sit in the main mosque said, “As the main mosque cannot accommodate all the devotees, for each day we have got seat allotment at different venues. It was my chance to be at the main mosque. Listening to him live is a different thing altogether.”
Before the sermon began at 10:30 am, BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya and MLA Ramesh Mendola met Syedna at Husaini Manzil to seek his blessings. They spent around 10 minutes with him till Syedna sat in the palanquin to leave for the mosque for the va’az.
