Artist Yousuf Bashir Qureshi signs his work

Yousuf Bashir Qureshi is a multi-talented Pakistani artist with an eye for fashion design, photography and a passion for food science and farming. YBQ (as he’s most commonly known) visited Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin at his residence at Burhani Mahal in Karachi, Pakistan.

Mr Qureshi displayed his artwork for Syedna, and gifted him a unique painting of horses which he initialed in beautiful Arabic calligraphy. Syedna appreciated his work and his multi-faceted talents and personality.

During the visit, Mr Qureshi remarked on the astounding success of the Muharram congregation in Karachi. He showed a keen interest in the history of the community, in particular the revival of the masjid of Imam Hakim, Al Jame’ al-Anwar in Cairo, Egypt. Syedna gifted him a copy of the book, recently published by the community on that restoration effort and entitled “Al-Jami’ Al-Anwar – The Luminous Masjid”. Syedna autographed it with his initials in Arabic “م س” (M S).

Mr Qureshi has always been involved in education and is a resident professor at Indus Valley School who has been invited to speak at numerous academic institutes around the world. This is an integral part of his personal vision and future for Pakistan’s arts community. His recent projects include ‘United Pakistan’, a social program that he initiated during the recent flood disaster in Pakistan.
