Crowds turned out in numbers at the venerable Police Gymkhana on Mumbai’s famous Marine Drive to witness the finals of the first ever International Dawoodi Bohra T10 Cricket Tournament organised by Burhani Sports in association with Anjuman-e-Shiate Ali.
SBT10 started as a national event in 2012 set up by SBP (Saifee Burhani Park in Anjir Wadi, Mumbai) and was taken up by Burhani Sports and ASA who made it an international event this year.
96 matches were played from March 6th to 11th with 16 participating teams including those from UAE, India, Kuwait and Sri Lanka. Over 10,000 runs were scored including around 1250 boundaries whilst 562 wickets fell over the course of the tournament.
In the final Mumbai ‘B’ posted an 8-an-over score of 78 in its allotted ten overs, hampered by the regular fall of wickets including 3 run-outs. Al-Nadi al-Burhani ticked off the runs to win by 9 wickets with an over to spare to win the trophy.
Batsman of the series went to Murtaza Trunkwala of Nasik with 286 runs.
Man of series was Yusuf Quilonwala from Abu Dhabi who scored 171 runs and took 11 wickets.
Best bowler went to Abdeali Kaydawala of Dohad who claimed 18 wickets.
