Community members present the Minister with His Holiness' profile book and a small token of appreciation

Members of the Bohra community in Edmonton had the opportunity to meet with the Federal Minister of Natural Resources Honourable Amarjeet Sohi on July 24th at his Edmonton office. The meeting was marked as an introduction to the community.

The Honourable Minister's office provided a warm and gracious welcome to community members and created an atmosphere of warmth and friendliness to facilitate meaningful dialogue and foster a stronger relationship.

The meeting commenced with an introduction of the members in attendance followed by a brief history of the Dawoodi Bohra community, along with the many social and environmental initiatives set into motion by his Holiness, such as the community kitchen FMB and the interest free loan scheme Qardan Hasanah.

Community members took the opportunity to thank the Honourable Minister for his personal help during the construction of the Edmonton community centre back when he was a city Councillor.

They also congratulated the Minister on his new portfolio pertaining to natural resources and thanked him for his numerous past contributions as Minister of Infrastructure.

An invitation was extended to the Minister to attend the ceremonial opening of the new community centre when a date for the same was finalised.

The Honourable Minister expressed his desire to meet all members of the community and was open to sharing an event with the community even prior to the ceremonial opening. He showed great admiration for the many social and environmental initiatives of His Holiness and offered his full support in making His Holiness' future visits a memorable and remarkable success.
