Trucks loaded with food hampers ready for distribution

June 10 2018

As with Muslims across the globe, the Dawoodi Bohras in Canada took the time during the Holy month of Ramadan to reach out to the less fortunate.

In Edmonton members of Anjuman-e-Saifee gathered on Saturday, June 2nd, to pack 153 food hampers for the Islamic Family and Social Services Association (IFSSA) through Edmonton's Food Bank. With funds raised within the community over four days, members filled each hamper with a packet of whole brown lentils, a can of dark red kidney beans, a can of chickpeas, a can of black beans, a bag of Basmati rice and a bottle of cooking oil. In total, members packaged and delivered 1,379 kgs of food to the Edmonton Food Bank.

Meanwhile, in Mississauga, members of Anjuman-e-Fakhri donated more than 600 pounds of food to the Mississauga Food Bank.
